Our Impact

Transforming Communities Through Measurable Change

Gem Legacy measures impact through practical, meaningful change for miners, students, and families in East African gemstone communities. Our programs are designed to expand education, strengthen earning potential, improve safety, and create opportunities that last.

On average, 1,500 people are directly impacted through our initiatives annually.

Entrepreneurship & Safer Work for Miners

70–80% of miners in East Africa are artisanal small-scale miners. We provide tools that improve their safety, productivity, and earning power.

Over 1,000 toolkits have been delivered since 2018.
Miners also receive healthy and safety education and each kit is customized to meet miner's unique needs.
New toolkits only cost about $125 each.
Miners also receive Silicosis prevention education and basic gemology training.

Impact That Endures

We’re building more than programs—we’re building a legacy of progress alongside mining communities. Our work isn’t a one-time effort or a flash of support; it’s long-term, steady, and focused on opening doors that lift entire generations. Every scholarship, toolkit, meal, and training opportunity becomes part of that legacy, creating stronger futures for the people who bring gemstones into the world.

Your Gift Can Change Someone’s Future

A better future starts with a single act of kindness. When you give, you help miners work safely, help students stay in school, and help families build stronger, more stable futures. Stand with the people at the heart of gem mining—your gift can change what’s possible.

Stay connected to the people and progress at the heart of gem-mining communities.
